Our family's house in Melrose Park - in a picture taken in 1970. Our parents bought the housein 1948 and Jean lived here until the mid-seventies. When she married Harvey Steinhart, Jean sold the house and moved to his apartment at the Wyncote House.

Interesting comments on the house at 7620 Lafayette - There are two dogwood trees in the front. The pink one to the right looking at the house took a direct hit by lightening one summer during a storm and a large section of the tree was almost severed from the trunk. Daddy said to chuck it - I said I was going to save it. So I put it back together and used twine to support it where it had been split. You wouldn't know it now - it healed quite well. The big Norway Crimson King Maple behind that dogwood tree replaced a big beautiful pine tree that had been poisoned by some exterminators out to get rid of termites one year. Daddy let me pick out the replacement tree. It is huge now.
